In the above table it is evident that certain persons have been included who do not strictly speaking possess university status. In the case of the nurses, pharmacists and soc service student it was felt that their work lay sufficiently close to that of the Medical Faculty to justify the provision of some immediate relief, especially as no other organisation for this purpose existed at the time and most of the individuals concerned were personally known to me. In many cases, as in those of the nurses and qualified pharmacists, the money advanced will be recoverable when the British Government turns over salary pay- ments that are due. In the case of the graduates, most of these were war-tine graduates, and to many (but not all) of them a grant was given to cover their inmediate travelling and living expenses while they sought for an appointment. The eight members of the Staff included Professor Ride (R.A.M .C.), Messrs. Morley and Davies (Naval Volunteers), Hes.rs. Kob Nye Poh, M.T. Chang (Engineering Faculty), Miss Leung Man Wah (Arts pulty), Mr. M.K. Cheng (University accountant) and myself. In three Canes relief payments were made. It follows that, of the total of 198 red mentioned, only 130 remain who can be classed as students and
m any future r--sponsibility need be entertained. Of the 130 the majority wish to continue their studies, only a very small number eded to take up some form of employment or are indefinite as
future course of action. The various destinations of the 198 uals have been olassified as follows:-
